CAT HOSTICK is a Canadian female Director / Producer / Writer and Co-Owner of North Film Co. She is one of the youngest female Directors on the rise in Canada with many great projects already completed!

With an extensive background in the arts, centered around painting, acting and directing Cat studied art abroad for 4 years before graduating from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts major in Cinema, Fine Art and Sociology.

Cat’s career started off focused on mastering acting. After appearing in a number of movies, commercials and television shows she was well on her way in the film industry. Alongside acting, her career in Film continued when she worked in integrated marketing at Walt Disney Studios Canada. At Disney Cat worked on the publicity of feature films, sourced national partners for films and organized press for advance screenings across Canada.

Cat is a member of ACTRA, Women in Film & Television (WIFT) , CMPA, and the Director’s Guild of Canada (DGC) as an Assistant Director. She has worked on popular TV series such as: Orphan Black, Suits, Heroes Reborn, Reign, 11.22.63, American Gothic etc.

These key skillsets learned as an actor, AD, artist, critic and promoter now paired with her drive and passion for the art have truly helped her grow into a well-rounded director. On set her directing skills shine as she is able to truly understand and pull more out of her actors / team to deliver an engaging end product.

In 2015, together with her partner Russ De Jong; Cat started North Film Co. and her career has gained traction steadily since. Cat has directed and produced over 15 projects in 2015 alone with well-known clients such as The Toronto Raptors!

Cat recently finished filming North Film Co.’s feature film: The Meaning of Life (2017) starring Sony artist; Tyler Shaw and Flashpoint’s / Rogue’s lead – Sergio Di Zio. In 2017 Cat Hostick / North Film Co. will be going to camera on their next feature film Dreamweaver for her next large scale feature film.
